Victorien A. Assi was born in Côte D' Ivoire (Ivory Coast). He spoke five languages before coming to the United States.
The author of The Crossroads can speak, read, and write in French, Spanish, and English, and currently is learning Japanese.
His literary works include "Back Home," a play performed at International House in New York. He also wrote a non-fiction
book, Methods and Techniques of Language Learning: The Secrets of Breaking Through at Any Age and Any Level. Mr. Assi was
named International Scholar, then "Poet Laureate" at International House. Among his other awards are the Foreign Language
Scholarship from the City University of New York and the Reader's Digest Association Scholarship.
Victorien Assi's avocation is ballroom dancing, and as a dancer he has been featured in The New York Times, the Daily News
and the New York Post, New York City Lincoln Center Stage Bill-Features Page, and Time Out New York.
Mr. Assi who holds a master's degree in International Relations from the City University of New York, interned at the United
Nations’ Headquarters in New York. He has taught Economics at the City University of New York, and has traveled
in many parts of the world including North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. “When I travel in any part of
the world,” he says, “I learn about the people, their culture, and their ways of life in observing and absorbing
fashions.”
